URL redirect function

  1. Add a new function in the CMS which is for creating redirects

  2. Add a prompt as part of a page delete process, asking the user if a redirect is required, and to which other existing page if so

What is the business process you are trying to achieve?

We need to be able to:

  1. Create short URLs that can be used in marketing campaigns (memorable, easy to type) which we can then point to a more complex url

  2. Create redirects when a page is deleted, or when Google Search Console indicates a broken link

Thanks for taking the time to review the functionality and provide feedback Dario.

You should be able to achieve the outcome you are looking for by utilising the "URL redirect" kind within the configuration page as shown below:

I will also liaise with the engineering team to understand if the job landing pages can be added to the drop down list for the "Page redirect" kind, but the above should provide the outcome you are looking for in the meantime.

I tried this function just now - the available pages in the 'Page' dropdown are only static pages. I cannot see any of my job search pages available in this list, which is 99% of the time what I will be redirecting to. For example, I would like to have redirect rule for careers.apm.net.au/workcare and point this to the job search page https://careers.apm.net.au/jobs/search/apm-workcare

    Currently this is not possible...

I'm pleased to announce that this functionality was released this week, and is available to all customers who utilise the Recruitment Marketing module.

For more information about this new feature, and other new capabilities we've been working on, take a look at the latest release notes which can be found here: https://knowledgeportal.pageuppeople.com/article/recruitment-marketing-release-notes/#october-2021

To learn more about configuring the redirection rules on your careers site, take a look at this page on the KP: https://knowledgeportal.pageuppeople.com/article/creating-page-redirect-rules/

I wanted to provide a quick update on this item to advise that development of this functionality has been scheduled, and we anticipate being able to release this capability in the coming weeks.

Hi Steve, that's perfect - exactly what is needed using the root domain name, but being able to create a more campaign friendly end on it, as you have show with the grads example.

Thanks for providing this suggestion Dario.

I've discussed this with the engineering team, and we are going to look further at how we might provided a solution to allow the creation of short URLs which can ultimately be routed to a more complex URL.

It should be noted that this wouldn't replicate a traditional URL shortener like bit.ly, but rather would supplement your careers domain name.

For example, it may look something like

https://careers.clientdomainname.com/grads which would then redirect to a graduate landing page.

I can't provide a specific timeline on this, but we've added it as an item to our roadmap for prioritisation.
