Tweaks to improve page load times

Whilst running our site through PageSpeed Insights it highlighed many areas where page load times could be reduced. Notably by:

  • enabling text compression - Text-based resources should be served with compression (gzip, deflate or brotli)

  • Serving images in next-gen formats (WebP and AVIF)

Is it possible to implement either of the above?

What is the business process you are trying to achieve?

We're looking to improve page load times for users with slower internet connections

Thanks for taking the time to submit this suggestion Stuart.

I will discuss this with engineering team to understand what we may be able to look at here.

Can I ask whether you've received specifc feedback regarding page load times from visitors, or whether perhaps you are aware that you have lots of visitors where low bandwidth is a problem?

Thanks in advance for the additional information.
