Renaming Items and slides within Carousels

The current process to create a carousel is great - but the naming convention of each 'part' is not very intuitive.

When creating a carousel, I am asked how many 'Items' I want to have. So if I have 10 photos, I intuitively want to say 'I have 10 items'. What that actually does is create 10 groupings to click through where I can have any number of photos/videos (which I WANT to call items) depending on how many columns are selected.

Then, when editing a carousel, the plus sign next to these "items" says to add a slide - so it's being called 2 different things.

My suggestion would be:

  • Replace what is currently named as "Items" with the word "Group" instead

  • Get rid of the "Slide" language with the plus sign so it just says "New Group" to keep the same naming convention

  • Use the word 'Item' refer to the actual things (photo/video/text) we are scrolling through

Again this isn't a huge or groundbreaking request, but it's been a couple of times of mental "oh wait.... that's not what that means" incidents where I go back and have to fix a few things every time.

What is the business process you are trying to achieve?

Easily set up and edit a carousel by having more intuitive and user friendly language to describe the various elements.

Thanks for submitting this usability suggestion Christina.

I've referred these ideas to our User Experience team for their consideration.
